NHK Partnership Quilt Project 2015

It has just been announced that the theme for the 2015 NHK Partnership Quilt project is “Sweet”.  Donated quilt blocks are made into quilts by volunteers and sold to raise money for charity at the Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival in January.

Last year the theme was “Flower Language.”  Here is the block I contributed.

I was not able to attend the quilt show to see my block (upper right hand corner) and the quilt it was made into, but Queenie Patch kindly sent me photos from the show.

If you would like to participate this year, here are the rules:

·                  one block per person

·                  22cm x 22cm with a seam allowance of 1.5cm included

·                  flimsy block, i.e. no wadding, no quilting

·                  your name should be written with pen in the seam allowance of the lower right hand corner

·                  your block should have reached NHK by 31 August, 2014

·                  enclose a note with your name, address, telephone number, email address

·                  send to:

Partnership Quilt
NHK Sutekini Handmade
2-2-1 Jinnan
Shibuya-ku
Tokyo 150-8001
Japan

I’m already thinking about what I could make that would be “sweet”.  If you’d like to find out more about this project, check out Queenie’s Needlework blog.

Thank you for spreading the word. Don't forget that if you want to know the number of your block, you need to enclose a post card, addressed to yourself on one side and plain on the other, with a Japanese 52 yen stamp. Then NHK can print the information on the plain side and send it to you.
